Audiovisual Service

The Communications Ministry maintains and coordinates setups for audiovisual equipment, including microphone and public address systems for worship services, Sunday School classes, and meetings; hearing devices in the sanctuary; slide and movie projectors, televisions and VCRs, and video and audio recorders. While the church has an extensive inventory of equipment, advance requests for setups are necessary to ensure that equipment is available.

Electronic Media

Radio and TV Broadcasts

First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta has the oldest radio broadcast ministry in the United States, beginning in April 1922. Every Sunday morning, the 11:15 worship service is taped for television and radio broadcast the following week. Church volunteers serve as directors and as camera operators. Tapes are edited for broadcast in the church¹s television production center. The first "airing" is the entire service, which is broadcast on Wednesday evening at 8:00 on cable television (Comcast) channel AIB (Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasters). As of April 2006, we celebrated 20 years of television ministry. On Sundays, the sermon is broadcast on television channel MyATLTV Channel 13 at 7:30 a.m. and radio station WSB AM750 at 7:30 a.m.

Audio and Video Tapes

The Communications Ministry maintains a collection of audio and video tapes of services and sermons dating back many years. Duplicates of these tapes are available for a small charge. Tapes of recent services are available within two weeks of the service for a small charge. Most special services are also taped. In addition, videotapes of weddings may also be arranged through the Communications Ministry. There is a charge for this service. To order a video or audio tape (video tapes - DVD-$10, VHS-$8) (audio tapes - CD-$6, cassette $4) there is a $2 charge for mailing orders, please call 404-228-7755 or email youbelong@firstpresatl.org.

Internet

The Communications Ministry, through staff and volunteers, maintains the church’s Internet web site, www.firstpresatl.org. This electronic publication includes information about programs and activities, the weekly newsletter, and an up-to-date calendar of activities and events.
