Family Programs
The purpose of our Family Ministry program is to give emphasis to the
congregation as an extended Christian family and to strengthen families and deepen their
spiritual foundation. With this program, the church provides educational opportunities for
all stages of family life, fellowship activities to build up the Christian community, and
outreach projects to deepen our understanding of Christian servanthood.
Marriage Preparation Workshop
This is an all-day workshop (9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.) offered to all couples who are
scheduled to be married in our church. The Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory will be utilized in
helping to set a Christian foundation for new marriages.
And Baby Makes Three
Each fall and spring we have a dessert gathering in someone’s home for parents
expecting their first child. The focus is community building and discussing issues of
faithful parenting and life changes that accompany parenthood..
Marriage Enrichment Retreat
Couples will have an opportunity for “continuing education” on this annual fall retreat.
Advent Family Worship
Children are given the opportunity to lead families in a very meaningful, reverent
worship service. This has become an Advent ritual for many
families in our church.
Family Service Events
The Every Member CAN program provides ALL church members the opportunity
to bring non-perishable food items to church every week to stock the Venable Food
Pantry.
On Family Service Day, families will register to work with particular needs at church and in a variety
of other settings.
Family Socials
Our Family Socials include a Family Movie Night this winter and an All-Church
Picnic following Vacation Bible School in the summer.
