Christian Education Ministry
On Sunday mornings, throughout the week and all year round, First Presbyterian
Church of Atlanta offers a comprehensive program of Christian education classes and
activities for all ages.
Our goal is that everyone who comes to this church - adults, youth, children,
members and non-members - will grow continuously in their personal knowledge and
love of Jesus Christ. We want all who come here to be guided by His love and teachings
in their everyday lives, constantly seeking God's will for their lives and ways to minister
to others in Christ's name. Our constant aim is to bring families and individuals close
together into one "church family."
Our desire for the preschool children is for them to experience the love of Jesus
Christ through their teachers and caregivers, developing their personal knowledge and
love of our Lord Jesus Christ through prayer, praise, fellowship, service, music, and
education. In the preschool years children have the opportunity to know and to establish
relationships with their “church friends” which will continue throughout their years
together.
We offer elementary children a wide range of worship, study, social, and service
opportunities to encourage the growth of their relationship with Jesus Christ and with
each other. We also offer activities and events that give families opportunities to
experience their faith together.
Our youth ministry, for students in grades 6 through 12, provides a Christian
community that offers worship, service, study, and fellowship. Our model is the early
church described in Acts 2:42-45. The Christian community provided for our young
people guides them in developing and deepening a faithful relationship with God through
Jesus Christ. Our youth program also encourages their commitment to Christ and their
reliance on the Holy Spirit to guide them daily.
Young Adults at
FPC are involved in the work of the church, the study of the Word, and fellowship
with one another.
The Young Adults Program includes two Sunday School groups: the Young Adults Class
and the
Young Married Couples Class. The young
adults also meet outside of class for Bible Study, Community Ministry and Social Events.
Our adult program includes many Sunday School classes and a wide variety of
opportunities for learning and spiritual growth during the week to meet a wide variety of
individual needs and interests.
The purpose of our Family Ministry program is to give emphasis to the
congregation as an extended Christian family, and to strengthen families and deepen their
spiritual foundation. With this program, the church provides educational opportunities for
all stages of family life, fellowship activities to build up the Christian community, and
outreach projects to deepen our understanding of Christian servanthood.
