Stained Glass Windows

Our stained glass windows are among the most notable features of our Sanctuary.  Dr. Sprole Lyons, our founding pastor, conceived the plan and designed the windows to depict the story of the entire Christian message. Following Dr. Lyons’ concept and design, the artists of Tiffany, D’ Ascenzo, and Willet created the artistic depiction. The artisans skilled in glass window construction then completed the windows. 

In Dr. Lyons’ words “God's revelation of Himself to mankind through the years”. He planned each window to be “beautiful, to be true to history, and to carry a message, the Christian message”. Later Dr. Gardner, who had followed Dr. Lyons as Pastor, noted that the windows came into being through the generous hearts of devoted members. Dr. Gardner, in his pamphlet, repeated Dr. Lyons’ words: “It has been necessary that these windows meet three requirements: their message must be historically accurate, Scripturally sound, and artistically beautiful.”
