Sunday School for Children

At First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, we want Sunday School to be a place children look forward to coming each week—a place filled with faith, friendship, curiosity, joy, and belonging. Sunday School is a place where children can learn the Bible, grow in faith, ask questions, and build friendships within their church community.

Using the Spark curriculum, children explore Bible stories in engaging, age-appropriate ways through storytelling, conversation, activities, games, art, and hands-on learning. Our goal is for children not only to hear the stories of our faith, but also to begin understanding how those stories connect to their own lives and to the world around them. The Spark Sunday School curriculum is a Bible-centered children’s curriculum designed to help children explore Scripture, ask questions, make connections, and discover how God’s story relates to their everyday lives. Lessons use storytelling, conversation, games, art, activities, and other hands-on experiences to keep children actively engaged in learning.

Each week, we focus on three important parts of a child’s faith formation:

  • Learning the Bible — Children become familiar with the people, stories, and teachings of Scripture while discovering the larger story of God’s love.

  • Engaging in Faith — Through questions, activities, prayer, creativity, and conversation, children are encouraged to participate actively and discover that faith is something we live, not simply something we learn.

  • Making Friends & Building Community — Sunday School gives children a consistent place to know and be known. They develop friendships with other children and caring adult leaders, helping them feel that they truly belong in their church family

Sunday School for Parents with Children

Parenting is better with community. Connect with other parents who are navigating the same ages and stages, share experiences, and find encouragement along the way. First Presbyterian invites all parents with children to two Sunday School classes that offer space for conversation, connection, and growing together in faith and family life:

  • Parents of 0-5 Year Old | The Ellis Room, 156 | 10 a.m.

  • Parents of Grade Schoolers | Room 218 | 10 a.m.

For parents with older children served by our Youth Ministry, we also offer:

  • Parents of Middle/High Schoolers | The Steward’s Room | 10:00 a.m.
