The Venable Food Market, part of Community Ministries, is a food pantry dedicated to supporting the working poor of Midtown Atlanta. Located in the recently updated Charles Black and Connie Lee Community Ministries Center at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, this market empowers clients to select and receive essential groceries at no cost.
The Venable Food Market provides a variety of canned and dry goods, fresh deli items, frozen foods, and produce. With an initial goal of serving 60 households each month, the market aims to expand its reach with the continued support of the congregation and local community partners.
Food Drive
Community Ministries is always conducting a food drive to restock the shelves of the Venable Food Market. Your contribution to this effort will make a significant impact on the lives of those in need right here in Midtown.
Needed Items
Canned tuna
Canned chicken
Canned peaches (prefer in juice, not heavy syrup)
Jars of spaghetti sauce
Jars of creamy peanut butter
Jars of grape jelly
Bags of long grain white rice (prefer 2 lb bags)
Large boxes of Cheerios or Honey Nut Cheerios
Boxes of Parmalat whole milk (available at Publix and Walmart)
Toilet paper - either single wrapped rolls or wrapped multi-packs
Paper towels - either single wrapped rolls or wrapped multi-packs
Dishwashing soap - small bottles of 7-12 oz
Dishwasher tablets or dishwasher liquid - at least 15-30 tablet or 20 oz liquid size
Laundry detergent tablets or liquid - at least 15-30 tablet size or 40 oz liquid size
Spray disinfectant (e.g. Lysol, Fabuloso, etc.)
Toilet bowl cleaner (e.g. Scrubbing Bubbles, Clorox,
Glass cleaner (eg. Windex, etc.)

Standard sized food goods are best.
Expiration Date:
For safety reasons, food goods past the expiration date cannot be distributed.
Donations Can Be Dropped off:
Sunday's between 8:00am & 1:00pm.
Monday through Thursday 9:00am to 3:00pm
At First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, in the designated bins located in the Smith building lobby.
Prospective Clients
The Food Market is operational every Tuesday between 1:00pm and 6:00pm by appointment only. Limited appointments available.
Make sure to review the following guidelines for Venable Food Market clients:
Clients must provide proof of housing in the form of lease or utility bill to receive food with their name listed on the document.
Clients can only receive food bi-monthly.
Clients must complete an intake form their first visit before receiving any food.
