Pentecost

Come, Holy Spirit

Fifty days after Easter, the church celebrates Pentecost, remembering the gift of the Holy Spirit to the disciples and the birth of the church's mission in the world. The story in Acts tells of a rushing wind, tongues of fire and people of many nations hearing the good news in their own languages—a powerful reminder that God's Spirit crosses boundaries and calls people together.

Often called the birthday of the church, Pentecost celebrates the Spirit's continuing presence among us, empowering us for worship, witness, reconciliation and service.

Wear red, the traditional liturgical color of Pentecost, and join First Presbyterian as we celebrate the Spirit that continues to renew and send the church into the world.
